During the implementation of the 2010-2013 strategic plan it became apparent that having a full-time staff member devoted to reaching the Division’s goals was a necessity. Dr. Abby Langham assumed a newly created position as the Director of Assessment & Strategic Planning in February of 2013. In this role, she leads efforts to assist the staff members, who make up the Division of Student Affairs, in understanding how to assess co-curricular student learning and program outcomes. In addition, she serves as an adjunct professor with graduate faculty status in Auburn University’s Administration of Higher Education program within the College of Education.

Dr. Langham came to the field of student affairs after a nearly 5-year tenure as an institutional researcher at the same institution where she completed her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, the University of Alabama at Birmingham. A higher education professional since 2006, Dr. Langham has also worked at the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Center for Educational Leadership and Auburn University’s Economic and Community Development Institute. Additionally, she has had the pleasure of teaching at the college level for Auburn University’s Department of Political Science. Although Dr. Langham came to the Division from another institution, as an Auburn alumna, she understands all that students can learn at Auburn University both inside and outside the classroom. Dr. Langham received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Auburn University.

“It is a privilege to be able to return to my alma mater, to work with such a wonderful group of people within Auburn University’s Division of Student Affairs, and to help to strategically advance what I know to be an already great university experience for our students.” – Abby Langham, Ph.D.
